Arctic Arc: Alain and Dixie reach the coast of Greenland.

Alain Hubert and Dixie Dansercoer finally reached the northern coast of Greenland. They had started the trip on March 1 after being dropped 70km off the Siberian coast, and reached the North Pole on April 25.

Arctic Arc: Land at sight! Thursday at 11:45 am, Alain and Dixie saw the first outline of the Greenland mountains. The two explorers were relieved as recent ice conditions would have made a plane pick up difficult.

Rosie's North Pole trip aborted. She set a speed record to the South Pole and said she expected to become the fastest person ever to walk to the North Pole. (The fastest NP skiing trip is 41 days). After 84 days on the ice however, British Rosie Stancer came back with her resupply plane last week.

Arctic Arc update. Alain Hubert and Dixie Dansercoer are holding on in spite of the approaching summer, and progressing toward Greenland.

Rosie Stancer: 88th among leads and cracking ice.
Yesterday Rosie reached the 88th degree and also broke the 300 mile marker. She reported on a low coming from the south of her bringing driving snow, cold winds and a continued whiteout her way. She also has been encountering a large amount of open water leads and thin ice. Friday was her day 73 on the ice.

Bendigo Bank Greenland expedition completed. “We arrived at our expedition destination - the waters of Sondre Stromfjord, which reach out to the sea on the western coast,” – reported Roger, Rob and Linda on May 15. “Id imperfectum manet dum confectum erit (It’s not over till it’s over!),” – they wrote. British Geared up team also crossed the Island from coast to coast this past week.

This year route of the “Polar Ring” expedition was successfully completed on the 3th of May in Vorkuta city.

Arctic Arc: Greenland too far away? It's obvious, we're at a pivotal point in the expedition, because on the one hand, time is short and on the other, which is a little worrying, we know absolutely nothing about the conditions that we can expect, - Alain said. All going well, the team calculates they would finish their expedition by the beginning of July.

Frozen Five: Vagabond sweet home (Skiing down towards the east coast on the long glacier of Inglefieldbreen, I felt like coming home, - Lucas reported.) "We were just a few kilometers away from our second resupply point... and the French polar yacht Vagabond... the only inhabited location on the wild east coast of Spitsbergen."

Rosie in her second month on the ice Rosie is ahead of schedule, according to her home team, but in fact it was over two months ago when she set off from Ward Hunt Island. On her 65th day of expedition, she still has two and a half degrees to go in order to reach the North Pole.

North Pole: It's over for Ann and Liv.
Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen were evacuated from the ice Monday. Liv's frosbitten toes, the team's damaged gear, and bitter cold are reasons for aborting the attempt.

Park Young-Seok evacuated from Bering Strait.
Park Young-Seok, Korean 14x8000ers summiteer and skier of both Poles, was evacuated on March 9 from the Bering Strait, which he was attempting to cross. A US helicopter picked up the team only 27 kilometers (half the distance some polar teams get airlifted to the ice) away from Alaska's Seward Peninsula, because of floating ice moving at fast speeds and pushed by strong winds. Oh Hee-Joon and Lee Hyung-Mo were also part of the team.

    Rosie: Antibiotics resupply Rosie.
Rosie has a touch of frostbite on two of her toes. The British skier's support team took advantage of the flight that was picking up Liv and Ann to fly out over Rosie's position and drop some additional antibiotics that she may use to prevent infections.

Alain & Dixie's Arctic Arc: Bear encounter.
After a short break while traversing a chaos ice section, Alain and Dixie turned around one of the tall ice blocks - only to find they were not alone. A bear was following them. ⌠We decided to shoot in the direction of his paws so that he would abandon the game. When we returned to our break place, to make sure he had left, we discovered that he had even eaten the tea bags we had left behind..."
